WOMEN’S AUXILIARY SERVICES 2011

On Sunday,  January 30, 2011, the Women’s Auxiliary was responsible for the morning worship service.  Sis. Qualyn McIntyre, women’s auxiliary president, wanted the service to focus on women participating in various facets of the worship service as follows: Sis. Verlene Brown leading the prayer, and Sis. Cynthia Howard reading the scripture lesson.  The women’s choir rendered songs of praise such as:  “All Hail the Power of Jesus Name”, “One More Chance”, and “Do You Know Jesus?” The dance ministry presented a spirit-filled rendition of “Yes.”

Pastor Deas’ sermon topic was “Awesome Women – You Choose.”  The message focused on whether we will follow the right or wrong influences in our lives.  The examples given from the scriptures of wrong influences were Eve and Jezebel.  The good influences were Sarah, Mary, Ruth & Naomi.  Some of the scripture references used were Genesis 3:1-19; II Kings 21: 1-16; Acts 18:24; I Samuel 25; St. John 2:5.

On the week of May 22nd the women’s choir had rehearsal, and a prayer breakfast on Saturday morning, May 28th.  The women’s auxiliary was in charge of morning worship on Sunday morning, May 29th.  The main nugget from the women’s department was that we need to stay in intercessory prayer for the ministry and each other.  Our prayers can be so powerful as to help “birth” in numerical and spiritual growth of the church.  The women’s choir rendered such songs of praise as “Praise Is What I Do”, “Jesus Promised He’ll Take Care of Me,” and “Walk in the Light.”  The Girl’s Club assisted with hospitality duties along with Sis. Anita Johnson and Sis. Ariel McIntyre.

Pastor Deas’ sermon topic was “Right Road, Wrong Way,” and the sub-topic was “Getting on the Route of God.”  One main nugget from the message was that the enemy will try to get us to stay on the highway of (1) deception, (2) doubt , and (3) dishonor.  But the truth of God’s word will cause us to look at ourselves and strive to change to do what is right, the right way.  Some of the scriptures used were Ephesians 4:4-6; Genesis 1:1a, 3:1-19; St. John 11, 14; 10:30; 15:2-5 and Acts 2:38.
