Women Hold Worship in Pink Service…

The Women’s Auxiliary department held its 3rd
annual Worship in Pink service to call attention to the need for aid in
the fight for the cure for breast cancer as well as other kinds of cancer, such
as colon, ovarian, and lung cancer, and the list goes on. Certainly we serve a
God who is able to cure, heal and deliver. The theme for this year’s service
was “Pray for the Cure;” prayer is certainly the child of God’s best weapon.
The service was also in memory of Mother Claudia Howard and Sis. Zelda Farley
and others who had lost loved ones due to cancer. The service highlighted myths
in regards to the signs of cancer, a testimony from cancer survivor, Kimberly
Thomas, co-worker of Sis. Qualyn McIntyre, who chronicled her journey from
initially being diagnosed, through surgery, treatment, and to being a survivor.
Sis. Janis Deas presented facts on what we can do to contribute to our own
well-being, songs of praise were rendered by the Women’s Choir, and sermon by
our Pastor, Earnest Deas. After the service a Pink Lemonade and cake reception
was held downstairs. Also, following the service a couple of saints reported
that they had loved ones who were presently fighting breast cancer, and later in
the week one of the members testified about a bad initial report she had just
received from the doctor from her mammogram results prior to the service, but
thus far God is working things out on her behalf. This year’s service was
organized by Sis. Janis Deas.
