The Hospitality Committee
Sis. Betty Jean Arnold is shown standing in the spot of her mentor, Sis. Joan P. Isaac. Behind Sis. Arnold, is a plaque with Sis. Isaacs picture, that was presented to Sis. Isaacs husband and daughter, honoring her work at the church while she was living. Sis. Isaac stood where Sis. Arnold is standing during her tenure on the Hospitality Committee. Many times Sis. Isaac, didnt feel well, and had to lean on the seat, but she stood nevertheless. Sis. Isaac and her husband were members of the Progressive Church in Denmark, SC and came to Atlanta to be near doctors, when Sis. Isaac became ill. Sis. Isaac passed in November, 1997. Bro. Isaac returned to the church in Denmark. Sis. Betty Arnold worked with Sis. Isaac to learn the duties and responsibilities of this committee and became president on June 7, 1997, at the church retreat. Sis. Isaac served as Advisor to this group. Sis. Arnold began having an appreciation service each year for her board members to mark the Hospitality Committees Anniversary. The first Anniversary Service was held in June, 1998. Sis. Arnold honored the committee members, and has done so each subsequent year. She & her committee also gives the pastor and his wife a gift of love, and shows appreciation to anyone who has assisted them with printed programs, etc. during the previous year. Sis. Arnold was honored this year, 2001, with a plaque in appreciation for her tireless work, and years of dedicated service on the Hospitality Committee. Sis. Arnold loves working with young people and is always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she can. |
