YOUTH PRESENTS FAMILY AFFAIR WORSHIP…

During our Sunday morning worship service, November 8, 2009, our youth were in charge and presented an overall theme of Parent/Child(ren) worshipping together.  The program comprised of a spirited welcome with accompanying posters by Sister Latonia Deas, her daughter Michelle, and Michelle’s sister, Megan; scripture reading by Bro. Emmanuel Deas and his son, Draiden; Church News and Announcements by Sister Qualyn McIntyre and her daughter, Taylor; a duet by Sister Janis Deas and her daughter, Dawn; reading by Sister Paula Glenn and her son, Titus; and a short skit by Sister LaTonya Marsh and her son, Quincy, about being thankful for all that you get.  It was inspiring to see youth excited about their various roles in the service and being included in a different way.

Other musical selections were rendered by the New Generation Youth Choir, under the direction of Sister Dawn Deas. The sermon by Pastor Earnest Deas was entitled “In Times Like These” with the sermon’s scripture texts taken from St. Matthew 19:13-15 and St. John 15:15-17. Other scriptures used during the discourse were II Timothy 3:1, Deuteronomy 32:39 and Ephesians 3:20-21.  Some nuggets taken from the sermon included the following:   (a) we are living in perilous times, and we all need the Savior; (b) regardless of what we’re dealing with, greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world; (c) we must learn to forgive unconditionally, because un-forgiveness is a trick of the devil; (d) Jesus will return to accept His people and we must be in right standing and be ready to go back with Him; and (e) God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we are able to think or ask, according to the power that worketh in us, therefore we need Jesus!

The Youth department is under the direction of Deacon Larry Coleman and their service time has been changed to 2nd Sunday mornings each month.  The youth invite you to worship with them on 2nd Sundays, and extends a standing invitation to each Sunday morning worship service at 11:30 a.m.
