SUMMER QUARTER BIBLE
BOWL HELD…
The
Sunday School Department is very pleased with the results of our recent Summer
Quarter Bible Bowl. The Sunday School Department took a break from the Bible
Bowl for the Spring Quarter. Nevertheless armed with two new team leaders, two
original team leaders, and some new team members, each group was formalized as:
The Kingdom Builders, Sis. Kriss White & Sis. Zelda Farley, Team Captains;
Agape, Bro. Emmanuel Deas, Team Captain; Truth Standers, Bro. Charles Holmes,
Team Captain, and The Conquerors, Bro. Isaac Nkrumah, Team Captain.
In order to be armed
naturally, a Sunday School brunch was prepared for the group and began at 9:30
a.m. The brunch consisted of fresh fruit, pastries and juice. After being
fortified, the quest for the winning team began.
As always, Deacon Al
Alford, Sunday School Superintendent employs new tactics and surprises that
bring excitement to the Sunday School Bible Bowl. This semester the “Unscramble
a Word” and “Where Is It Written?” were added along with some of the previous
response methods such as “Answer by the Multitude,” “Bonus Questions,” “lst ring
Gets to Answer, and “Casting Lots.” Casting Lots entail numbers being drawn
from a basket, and the person who sits in the number position answers the
question.
The audience was instructed
that if a team did not come up with a response, they were to say “throw them
overboard” depicting Jonah being thrown overboard. After several rounds, a tally
of the scores was taken, and one group was clearly ahead of all the others. The
bowl continued with much enthusiasm and excitement. Although one group was not
prepared as all of the others, they were a good sport and gave it their best
shot.
For the 4th time
in a row, the Kingdom Builders emerged as the clear winner. Again, this group’s
preparation was shown through out the bowl. The team met at 8:00a.m.apparently
to pray and for last minute strategizing. It all paid off. The Kingdom
Builders showed their seriousness in the final tally as they left the other
groups behind. Congratulations to the Kingdom Builders for a job very well
done. The other winners were as follows, Agape-2nd place, The
Conquerors-3rd place, and Truth Standers-4th place.
The goal of the Sunday
School Department is to increase its membership and add excitement and
enthusiasm through the word of the Lord. It is always requested that all
answers be according to scripture. Pastor Deas is formulating a new team called
“The Samsonites” made up of all the brothers who were not active on a team this
quarter. They have challenged the “Kingdom Builders” that they will be the new
Bible Bowl Champions. We must wait and see…

School teachers for all of their continuous hard work. We have seen a steady
increase in Sunday School attendance overall. To God be the glory!!
