Our church’s office staff consists of Deacon Al Alford, Chairperson of the Finance Department, Sis. Verlene Brown, Church Secretary and Bro. Jerome Howard, office staff member. These office staff members also serve on the Trustee Board along with Pastor Deas. They not only speak of the Lord’s goodness and blessings, they offer their time, talents and various areas of expertise to the church whenever called upon.

Deacon Alford is employed with Xerox Corporation and was an Instructor at the Xerox Learning Center. Because of Xerox’s restructuring, he was recently re-located to service as a Senior Technician. He has presented financial workshops for the church members and often gives confidential financial advice to members whenever called upon. Along with his duties as Financial Chairman, he also serves Sunday School Superintendent, Adult Sunday School Class Teacher, Web Site Administrator, and President of the Harvest Investment Group which is comprised of, but not limited to mostly church members.

Sis. Verlene Brown is owner and CEO of Hair a la Parisenne in East Point, Georgia. The Lord has blessed her management skills and style greatly because she has always “given the Lord His first.” Her salon has received numerous awards such as “Salon of the Year” and she is always giving back to the community in which her salon is located. Through the subsequent deaths of her mother, a sister and only daughter, she entered a GriefShare program that was a tremendous help to her. She now facilitates this program at the church as well as the DivorceCare program. Both programs are bible based and provide an outlet for individuals to share, and does not involve counseling. In addition to her duties as Church Secretary, Sis. Brown also is a Teacher for the Young Adult Sunday School class.

Bro. Jerome Howard has been employed by Turner Broadcasting Properties, a division of Time-Warner for over 25 years. His current job title is Lead Electrical Engineer. Bro. Howard is also Chairperson of the Brotherhood Department. Whenever anything needs to be done at the church, everyone turns to Bro. Howard for leadership. He does his work at the church with a smile and is quite efficient in other areas beside electricity. Bro. Howard was most recently responsible for overseeing the installation of the central heating and air conditioning units in the church’s basement. He also serves as Head Usher and is a member of the Brotherhood Choir.

Pastor Deas has said when he meets with the office staff or trustees, the meeting is always conducted in a professional manner and that each member is respected and respects each other’s opinion. The group, he says is “easy to work with.” Surely these are humble servants who have a great respect and love for the Lord and the ministry of the church.
