…6-year Old Has an Eye on the Ministry quincy2.jpg (31490 bytes)

Six-year old Quincy Moore has his eyes set on the work of the ministry. His mother, Latonya, says that Quincy is forever mocking Pastor Deas around the house. On Sunday, December 22, 2002, during the Sunday morning service with the Youth Department in charge, Quincy got a rare opportunity to address the congregation and to sit in the pulpit with his beloved Pastor Deas. When it came time for Quincy to recite John 3:16, he became a little shy, but with coaching from Pastor Deas, Quincy made it through!

Quincy can often be seen during worship services in the aisles, dancing, clapping, and participating in service. He has a great enthusiasm for worship. The Bible says that we should "train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old, it will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). Quincy is a member of the Junior Sunday School class and recently told his teacher, Sis. Janis Deas, "I’m going to pay attention today." Could it be that Quincy knows that in order to reach his goal, he needs to begin getting serious now, and pay attention to biblical teaching?? Quincy is very inquisitive and always has quincy1.jpg (27309 bytes)"101" questions to ask. Sometimes he even comes up with the answers himself.

Sis. Deas says that Quincy reminds her of the scripture that tells how the Israelites were warned of God to be sure to teach their children the laws of God and to teach them at every opportunity, regardless of what they were doing. Deuteronomy 6:7 says "And thou shall teach them (God’s word: commandments, statutes, and judgements) diligently unto thy children, and shall talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." Quincy is also present for Bible Class, Sunday Evening Services, and Prayer. We don’t know what the future holds for young Quincy Moore, but we do know that he is being trained and instructed in the Word of the Lord. One day we may be addressing him as Pastor Quincy Moore.
