HARVEST INVESTMENT GROUP MARKS 5TH
YEAR ANNIVERSARY…
The Harvest Investment Group held its 5th
year Annual Stockholder’s Dinner on Monday, April 24th,
2006, 7:00p.m. at Calypso’s Jamaican Restaurant, 58 Walton Street in
downtown Atlanta. The restaurant closed its doors to the public in
order for the group to have the main dining area for the meeting.
Our president, Mr. Al Alford presided over the
short agenda. After prayer and grace, the group enjoyed a delicious
buffet of Jamaican food, such as curried chicken, sweet n’ sour
shrimp, fried plantains, and rice n’ peas, to name a few. The group
as a whole gave the restaurant very high marks and said they would
be back as individuals.
Mr. Alford gave a handout for the group to
complete. It forced you to really evaluate
how discipline you are with regards to spending money. Each person graded their own papers in regards to
their current financial situation.
Mr. Alford also gave a glowing report for our
investment group especially when compared to other groups such as
ours. Our overall rate of return on our investments reached 21%,
wherein the average rate of return for most investment groups is
only 10%. We also only lost two members since our inception, and
both were due to the member’s changing circumstances. We also gained
two members, which allowed our membership to remain at 16 members.
All, but one member were in attendance at this year’s dinner, along
with 5 guests.
We ended with closing remarks from Mr. Earnest
Deas (a.k.a. Pastor Deas) who also gave the closing prayer. The
group continues to meet monthly on the last Monday of each month,
except wherein a holiday prevents them from meeting. They are
currently in the process of reviewing their procedures and look into
ways of re-vamping the meetings and/or structure.
The group is not a church sponsored group, nor
is the church liable for any of the group’s functions. Although HIG
is comprised mostly of church members, it is not limited to the
same.
