Vacation
Bible School 2009

Habari Gani? Habari Gani? What’s the News Saints?
Progressive Church of Atlanta has been moving expeditiously with God’s unfailing
grace from place to place! We are overjoyed to report the phenomenal success of
our 1st Annual Vacation Bible School session at our current location. The
genesis of this blessed journey had its “grass roots” beginning in the
Progressive Church young adult Sunday school class. The intent of this vision
was to offer a service to the community that would allow for fluidity of spirit
in the form of fellowship, worship, learning, and good old fashion fun.

The starting point of our biblical instruction
was Monday, June 22, 2009. The “On The Move” curriculum served as our north
star, guiding our course with a unique biblical and heritage based,
multicultural lesson highlighting the Civil Rights Movement Era. And with “On
The Move” to direct our path we sojourned through the week, singing praises of
jubilee and eating heartily along the way, until we reached our final
destination on Friday, June 26, 2009. Our educational trip culminated into a
beautiful finale event showcasing our newly gained knowledge in the expression
of drama, song, prayer, music and movement, art, and recitations.

This hallmark “Progressive Movement” was divinely fueled by
the eternal love of Jesus and humbly driven by two great disciples, Sis. Verlene
Brown (director) and Sis. Romenia Alford (coordinator). Sis. Brown and Sis.
Alford lead their people with uncompromised dedication, banding together a
quality group of sisters and brothers of the cause:

Habari Gani? Progressive Church of Atlanta is
attempting to mirror Christ’s own passion for community outreach through the
implementation of programs/ministries like Vacation Bible School. It is our
prayer that blessings and justice roll down like waters, and
truth and reconciliation like an ever-flowing stream in the life
journey of our dear community. Glory be to God!
