Arnold 3.jpg (38386 bytes)On Sunday, June 16, 2002, the Hospitality Committee and Ushers held their annual appreciation services. Sis. Betty Arnold, Hospitality Chairperson spearheaded the inception of this recognition service. Her main idea is that even though we will get our heavenly reward for the things we do toward building up the kingdom of God, we need to take time to say thank you to those who so readily assist in this area in the ministry of the church.Adrnold 1.jpg (38766 bytes) You can tell that Sis. Arnold takes note during the entire year of everyone who takes out time to aid these two valuable church ministries. She ensures that each person receive a certificate of thanks, and for those who went way and above the call of their duty, she recognized them by giving them gave special love gift bags.

Bro. Jerome Howard, Chairperson for the Ushers also took the time to recognize those who work so diligently in executing the duties of the Usherboard. Sis. Arnold and Bro. Howard works very closely together, and they also take time to show appreciation to their pastor and lst Lady during these special services. They presented Sis. Janis Deas with a beautiful gift apparel, and Sis. Deas remarked "that they have certainly observed my style through the years."Arnold 2.jpg (40237 bytes)

Sis. Arnold always asks Sis. Deas what the pastor needs or wants and tries her best toChoir 1.jpg (41381 bytes) meet the need. Sis. Deas didn’t have a suggestion this year, so Sis. Arnold and her group decided they would give the pastor a monetary gift. However, she was totally unaware this year that the pastor had consulted with her co-workers on the Hospitality Committee, and that Sis. Arnold was going to be presented with the gift that she had intended for Pastor Deas.

Sis. Arnold presented the gift to pastor as she had intended, then Pastor Deas informed her that this year she would be honored, and the gift was really hers because this was what he and the committee had decided. For someone who is always thinking of others, it was time that something special was done for Sis. Betty Arnold. Sis. Arnold broke down in tears and was completely surprised that she was honored in this way. However, we’re sure that Sis. Arnold is already planning her program for next year.audience.jpg (42263 bytes)
