FRED FACTOR AWARDS & DINNER

 The idea of the Fred Factor award was derived from a book by motivational speaker, Mark Sanborn.  In this powerful new book Mr. Sanborn recounts the true story of Fred, the mail carrier who passionately loves his job and who genuinely cares about the people he serves. Because of that, he is constantly going the extra mile handling the mail - and sometimes watching over the houses - of the people on his route, treating everyone he meets as a friend. Where others might see delivering mail as monotonous drudgery, Fred sees an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those he serves. Pastor Deas wanted to take time to show appreciation for those in the church who go the extra mile(s) in caring for, and cheerfully and faithfully serving members of the household of faith in their various ministries.  Each department head was directed to have their department members nominate one person to be the recipient of the Fred Factor Award from their department.  The award ceremony was held on Sunday, November 10, 2010 and the dinner was held on Sunday, April 17, 2011.  The departments and recipients are as follows:

Brotherhood- Deacon Jerome Howard

Women’s Auxiliary- Mother Gertha Hearst

Youth-Brother Quincy Moore

Transportation-Deacon Larry Coleman

Sunday School- Sister Ariel McIntyre

Music-Brother Emmanuel Deas

Administrative Staff-Deacon Alonzo Alford, Deacon Jerome Howard, Sister Verlene Brown, and

Sister Cynthia Howard

Ministers & Deacons:  Ministers: Tarryl McIntyre, Matthew Pinkney, and Steve Sweet;

Deacons:  Al Alford, Larry Coleman and Jerome Howard.

The church also shows its appreciation to each member during the church’s anniversary by taking them out to dinner. We all need to strive to go the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve!
