Young Adult Entrepreneurship Program Initiated…

There is a need to peak the interest and well-being of the young adults in and outside of our church grounds.  The young adults also expressed that they needed a bible study session geared just for their age group, where they can relate and ask questions without being criticized, they had an unquenchable search for knowledge of God’s true word.  Recognizing the need for them to grow spiritually, as well as naturally, the Young Adult Entrepreneurship Program was initiated which would be held each Wednesday night at 8:00p.m. alternating with bible study.  This group held its initial session September 14th, a Tuesday night and later moved to Wednesday nights.  The group has only missed one session due to the Pastor being out of town.  The Entrepreneurship portion of the program involves young adults realizing the need to establish their own businesses, and at a given point of time, the young adult who has the best business plan for starting their own business will be given $500 or more to begin the said business.  To help spur this group on, business leaders from the community have been brought in to tell their stories of how they started from ground up, and most from very humble beginnings.

Addressing the young adults thus far has been:  Mr. Ron C. Kelly, President & CEO of KSI, a privately owned and operated security business; Mrs. Verlene Brown (church member), founder and owner of Hair a la Parisienne Salon; Dr. Alfred D. Jenkins, M.D., Gynecologic Oncologist; and Chief George Turner, City of Atlanta Police Chief.  All of the speakers have been candid and forthright about what it took for each to get where they are today.  The young adults were able to ask and get answers from each of the speakers.

Many of the young adults have been inviting their friends to the sessions and the group continues to grow.  Twice a month they also have a lite meal and fellowship.  The bible study group is taught by Min. Tarryl McIntyre, and Deacon Larry Coleman with assistance from Pastor Deas.  Sis. Chasity Campbell is the group’s president, Santeria Gibson, vice-president and Iesha Kelly, secretary.
