34th Church & Pastoral Anniversary Dinner Held…

Oft times during the Church & Pastoral Anniversary, a celebratory meal is held wherein all the saints can fellowship together.  This year was very different because the meal was to be a surprise for the saints and visitors.  Scouting out a location for this event were Minister Tarryl & Sister Qualyn McIntyre, brotherhood and women’s auxiliary chair and president, respectively.  This husband and wife team worked diligently to find a place that could accommodate the saints.  There was no fuss or noise heard, but the task was accomplished in a quiet manner after securing a go ahead from Pastor Deas and Financial Chair, Deacon Al Alford.

Everyone was surprised at the end of the service by the announcement and invitation from the church for “all” to come dine together at the church sponsored Anniversary Dinner at Simon’s in East Point, Georgia.  After the attendees gave their names to Sister McIntyre, and received their printed directions, everyone traveled to Simon’s.  Approximately 90 saints and visitors were able to attend and dine on a delicious meal which was expertly prepared of grilled salmon, chicken breasts, vegetable medley, mashed potatoes, rice, biscuits, assorted soft drinks and tea, and desserts which included cheesecake, pecan pie, and red velvet cake.  The meal was served buffet style, and everyone seemed to remember that their “brother” or “sister” was to come after them.  Although the staff at Simon’s was only given an approximate number of attendees,  our group more than exceeded that number, and everyone was served with readiness, kindness and professionalism, an A+ for the staff.  What a great fellowship and ending to a very “spirit filled day!”

We are appreciative to the brotherhood department for the great job in planning this year’s anniversary celebration, Bro. Kenneth Jackson and his staff for preparing the Sanctuary Choir’s Concert, Sister Kriss Deas for the programs for both occasions, and for Minister & Sister McIntyre for all of their behind the scenes teamwork.  We thank God for each saint and especially those who use their gifts “in the House of the Lord.”
