33rd CHURCH & PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY SERVICES…

On Sunday morning, December 21, 2008 our 33rd Church & Pastoral Anniversary service was held.  This year’s theme was “Soul Harvesting-God’s Business.”  This theme got off to a wonderful start during the month of November when our District Bishop Paul Johnson preached two nights of service, on the 20th & 21st.  The Lord began to send this special harvest of souls on November 16th, and from that date on through our anniversary celebration, seventeen (17) souls were baptized in Jesus’ name.  Some are currently enrolled in the ABC class, and approximately 12 are still faithful.

Our anniversary service began with the Call to Worship by our conductor, Bro. La’Monte Jackson followed by songs of worship and praise from the combined choir of brotherhood and women auxiliary members, renditions of “O Come Let Us Adore Him,” “Hallelujah,” and “I Love You Jesus More Than Anything.”  Some of the other songs sung by the choir as the audience joined in were:  “Bless The Lord O My Soul, He’s Worthy,” “The Blessings of Abraham,” and “Whatever You Want, God’s Got It.”

The printed program, designed by Sis. Janis Deas and tweaked and printed by Sis. Kriss Deas, included a welcome letter from Pastor & Sis. Deas, pictures of recent baptisms and a biographical sketch of our speaker, Bishop Steve Walters. Tributes regarding the blessings of the church and the pastor’s influence in their lives were given by Elder Elect Tarryl McIntyre, Bro. Alan Murray, Bro. Eldrin Deas, Sis. Blanche Holmes, Bro. Larry Coleman, Sis. Betty Arnold, and Bro. Quincy Moore. The aforementioned persons represented the various departments:  ministerial staff, brotherhood, family member, women’s auxiliary, new member, senior member, and youth respectively. The brotherhood department and ministerial staff presented Pastor Deas with a suit, and the Women’s Auxiliary and Holmes family presented Pastor & Sis. Deas with a love offering.  Pastor & Sis. Deas received other cards and gifts from various members of the church.
